Reform and Transform Program Office (RTPO)
The RTPO is centrally responsible for enacting Budget Measure, Major and Standard projects within the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
We offer a service that is dedicated to giving our stakeholders being in full control of their projects. Some of these functions appertain to the control of project activities and data owned by RTPO through our Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool (Sensei Altus).
We aim to align project work with our Corporate Operations Plan and overall strategic goals, by ensuring we have the right resources, classification and prioritisation of projects.
RTPO is the primary function to maintain overview of all the projects registered under our area and ensuring that all the necessary data is always up to date and plausible within the PPM tool. Decisions regarding project scope, budgets and resources are prepared and made in due consideration of interdependencies between projects which are triaged via our Program Advisory Governance Group (PAGG) for informed decision making.
Position Description
The Senior Business Analyst (BA) will work directly with both internal and external stakeholders, reporting to the Change Director of RTPO. The ideal candidate will understand functions in an Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) environment, experience using project management tools, project financial services, exceptional problem-solving skills, project management and/or business analysis experience and a proven track record of delivering successful stakeholder engagements.
The Senior BA will be responsible to identify, analyse and document business processes, systems, and other functional requirements to facilitate improvement and support efficient delivery of business operations and performance in line with organisational strategies and operational plans.
Position Duties
- Facilitate end-to-end delivery of project workshops with business stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) of business processes.
- Assist in managing and building stakeholder relationships by supporting key objectives of the project and their desired outcome.
- Contribute and facilitate workshops to understanding their evolving needs and identifying opportunities for further collaboration within the Commission and external stakeholders ie Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC).
- Identify and analyse existing business processes, systems and other functional requirements to document and recommend improvements to enhance business operations and performance.
- Manage the development, facilitation, coordination and communication of initiatives and strategies applying best practice methodologies to ensure organisational consistency and improved business performance.
- Liaise with the internal customers and stakeholders to review and monitor effectiveness of the PPM tool, other business systems, methods and standards to ensure consistency and quality of outcomes.
- Influence and negotiate with stakeholder to obtain consensus for change initiatives to facilitate scoping and setting business priorities.
- Gather, analyse and translate business data to meaningful insights to support informed decision making to improve the effectiveness of processes and programs.
- Implement a structured project planning framework in accordance with approved standards, agile and best practice methodologies to improve efficiency, effectiveness and usability of systems and/or products.
- Partner with stakeholders to undertake projects and corporate initiatives to ensure requirements and standards are met and best practice techniques are used.
- Manage and co-ordinate planning and processes to ensure all critical business functionality is tested and a quality system is delivered and accepted by key stakeholders.
- Work with the RTPO Leadership Team to develop whole of enterprise view of business flows, change implications, project sequencing and prioritisation and risk management for reporting purposes as well as to improve workflows.

- Lead and manage staff including developing, coaching and mentoring staff, and building commitment to shared goals.

Position Description
As a section of the Regulatory Policy and Intelligence Group, Regulatory Strategy supports the Commission to deliver its functions and achieve its goal of being a best practice regulator by influencing and/or leading the development of regulatory and aged care program reform. This includes working with stakeholders in developing aged care legislative changes and policy development, supporting the development of resource bids for new policy proposals, developing cost and staffing models, and managing cost recovery models.
Improving the quality and safety of care and service delivery to consumers is at the centre of our regulatory practice. The section’s approach to understanding effective regulation is evidence and risk-based, strategic, coordinated and in line with best practice. Workflow in the section is dynamic and requires a flexible approach to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Purpose of position/s:
The Regulatory Strategy section is looking for a number of people with a range of one or more of the following skills, including:
- Project management.
- Policy development.
- Legal policy skills.
- Cost/data modelling (proficient in excel).
Position Duties
- Support Assistant Directors in a multifaceted workload which may include, developing policy, legislative and regulatory reform, collaborative projects, developing and managing resource bids for new policy proposals, interpreting, managing and developing cost and resource models.
- Directly contributing to the research and drafting of high-level communications, including briefing material, complex legal, policy and procedural topics for a range of audiences.
- Undertake analysis (as required) to support the evidence base for Commission’s programs.
- Engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support the Commission’s business and vision and contribute to the section’s strategic direction and continuous improvement activities.

The Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group (The Group) is responsible for the effective delivery of quality assessment and monitoring of approved provider compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, undertaking accreditation and reaccreditation audits of residential aged care services, completion of Quality Audits of Home Services, and undertaking investigations into triaged reports of serious incidents in aged care services.

About the Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group

Senior Quality Assessors
We are looking for the right people to join our high performing team who are responsible for assessing and monitoring the performance of individual aged care providers compliance (residential, home care and flexible care) against the Aged Care Quality Standards.
Senior Quality Assessor roles are predominantly field based positions with over-night travel commonly required, with assessors undertaking visits to aged care services across each state and territory, including visiting communities where aged care services are provided. Flex-time is available to support management of travel expectations of the role.
Successful candidates will be provided training through a comprehensive training program which must be successfully completed for the candidate to be eligible for registration as a Senior Quality Assessor. Registration is an essential requirement to be engaged as a Senior Quality Assessor. Following initial registration, Quality Assessors are required to undertake 15 hours of professional development each year and to apply for annual re-registration.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Visit aged care services, either as part of a team or individually, to assess the service’s performance and compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Engage with aged care service providers to find and collect information and evidence, actively follow through on lines of enquiry, and conduct interviews with service staff and management.
- Conduct in person or telephone-based interviews with consumers and/or their representatives about the quality of care and services provided by an aged care service.
- Collect and analyse evidence to record performance audit and assessment findings in written reports, using the Commission’s IT applications.
- Prepare well-reasoned and accurate reports for a delegate, which may be published, following an assessment of the quality of care and services provided by a service to inform statutory decisions within legislated timeframes.
What skills and capability we are looking for
- Critically analyse information to prepare comprehensive, evidence-based reports which clearly and concisely document their reasoning and recommendations.
- Manage interpersonal relationships with respect and communicate with influence with internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand and identify risk and potential harms in an aged care service and then escalate findings within a risk management framework.
- Work as a team member and/or team leader to accomplish organisational goals, this may include mentoring other staff.
- Understand and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, particularly the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act (2018) and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules (2018) and the Aged Care Quality Standards or be able to demonstrate a capacity to quickly acquire this knowledge.

About the Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group
The Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group (The Group) is responsible for the effective delivery of quality assessment and monitoring of approved provider compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, undertaking accreditation and reaccreditation audits of residential aged care services, completion of quality audits of Home Services, and undertaking investigations into triaged reports of serious incidents in aged care services.
The Group is led by an Executive Director and leadership team within a single Commission operating model, and includes staff located across Australia, group functions include four regional teams undertaking assessment and monitoring against the Aged Care Quality Standards, an investigations team and national teams responsible for worker regulation and incident investigations, quality audits of Home Services, and the delivery of national reaccreditation services supplied by third parties, and program performance.
Senior Investigations Officers
Senior Investigations Officer are regulatory officers who conduct field-based investigations into suspected non-compliance with worker regulation legislation and quality of care principles relating to reportable incidents including the use of restrictive practices under the Serious Incidents Response Scheme (SIRS).
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, participate in, and lead investigations into non-compliance with the Aged Care Act 1997 (Aged Care Act), relating to the SIRS program and worker regulation reforms (code of conduct).
- Conduct risk assessments in line with the Commission’s risk matrix to identify ongoing risks to aged care consumers based upon alleged/identified non-compliance.
- Investigations will include review of information and documents, interviewing staff, consumers, their representatives and other relevant persons, observations on site, underpinned by the Australian Government Investigations Standards.
- Collect, secure, and manage confidential information and evidential material gathered during investigations and other compliance activities.
- Produce high quality investigations reports to help guide regulatory responses, and support reasons for decisions on remedial actions required.
- Work collaboratively with legal officers and other advisors in the development of compliance and enforcement responses and briefs of evidence.
- Prepare briefs of evidence to support administrative action, civil proceedings and criminal prosecutions.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies or authorities and where appropriate refer matters to them under the relevant jurisdictional law.
- Participate in the delivery of education opportunities to inform and educate aged care providers and clients and the public about the Commissioner’s functions and the requirements of relevant legislation and rules.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to other Commission staff and contribute to a learning culture where expertise can be appropriately shared.
- Undertake activities using regulatory powers outlined in the Aged Care Quality and Safety Act 2018, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules 2018 (Commission Rules) and the Regulatory Powers (Standard Provisions) Act 2014.
- Publicly represent the commission, acting professionally (including adhering to APS Values & Code of Conduct and the Commission’s Quality Assessor Code of Conduct) and operating within the boundaries of organisational processes and legal and public policy directions.
What skills and capability we are looking for
- The ability to interpret legislation.
- Broad understanding of contemporary regulatory processes, inclusive practices and experience in leading investigations.

About the Provider Approvals and Suitability Team
The Provider Approvals and Suitability Team delivers three important functions of the Commission:
Provider Approvals:
- manage applications from organisations that want to be approved by the Commissioner to deliver Australian Government subsidised home, residential or flexible care and services.
- ensure public facing information about the application process is current and understandable.
- monitor and manage Administrative Appeals Tribunal merit reviews in conjunction with the Commission’s legal team
- assess submitted applications and supporting documentation to make a recommendation to the delegate about whether they are suitable to provide Government subsidised aged care as required under s63(3) of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act 2018.
Approved Provider Notifications:
- receive and assess legislated notifications from approved providers who are required to tell us certain information such as organisational and key personnel changes as required under the Aged Care Act 1997.
- information received is assessed to determine what, if any, future steps need to be taken to ensure that no regulatory issues are present.
- update provider records and maintain key personnel information in the Government Provider Management System.
- manage enquiries from approved providers about their notification responsibilities.
- undertake review and make enquiries with approved providers including assessing and making delegate recommendations about key personnel suitability.
Governing Body Determinations:
- receive and assess applications that certain governing body responsibilities do not apply.
- engage with approved providers to obtain information about their organisation and governance arrangements to make recommendations to the delegate.
- manage enquiries from approved providers about their governing body responsibilities as set out under the Aged Care Act and the application process.
- Provide advice to the public about the application process either directly or through public facing pathways such as the Commission’s website or the Regulatory Bulletin.
What skills and capability we are looking for
APS4 Administrative Officer
- Good generalist skills in communication and interpersonal interactions, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage interpersonal relationships with respect and communicate with influence with internal and external stakeholders.

APS6 Senior Assessor

About our Team
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) offers interesting and challenging work, focused on improving the lives of older people. As the single independent regulator of Australian Government-funded aged care services, the Commission plays a central role in maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.
The Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) is an initiative to help prevent and reduce the risk and occurrence of incidents of abuse and neglect of older Australians receiving Commonwealth-subsidised aged care and services. It commenced in residential aged care on 1 April 2021 and was extended to home services on 1 December 2022.
The SIRS has 2 key components:
- incident management responsibilities
- reportable incident obligations.
The 8 types of reportable incidents that must be reported to the Commission include:
- Unreasonable use of force
- Unlawful sexual contact or inappropriate sexual conduct
- Psychological or emotional abuse
- Stealing or financial coercion by a staff member
- Neglect
- Inappropriate use of restrictive practices • Unexplained absence from care / missing consumers
- Unexpected death.
The aim of SIRS is to:
- build the capability of providers to prevent or reduce the occurrence of serious incidents and improve quality and safety
- require providers to review incident information to drive improvements in quality and safety
- enable the Commission to better detect, triage and respond to risk across all its functions by utilising SIRS notifications alongside the range of intelligence held by the Commission.
SIRS Team delivers on the aim by:
- assessing the actual or potential risk to the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of a consumer and provider capacity and capability to address the risk.

What you'll do

The Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) is an initiative to help prevent and reduce the risk and occurrence of incidents of abuse and neglect of older Australians receiving Commonwealth-subsidised aged care and services. It commenced in residential aged care on 1 April 2021 and was extended to home services on 1 December 2022.
The SIRS has 2 key components:

The aim of SIRS is to:
- build the capability of providers to prevent or reduce the occurrence of serious incidents and improve quality and safety
- require providers to review incident information to drive improvements in quality and safety
- enable the Commission to better detect, triage and respond to risk across all its functions by utilising SIRS notifications alongside the range of intelligence held by the Commission.
SIRS Team delivers on the aim by:
- assessing the actual or potential risk to the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of a consumer and provider capacity and capability to address the risk.

What you'll do
Reporting to an Assistant Director (EL1) in the SIRS Operations, you will be responsible for:
- leading a team of 4-5 team members, including exercising HR delegations
- building and sustaining capability of team members to undertake their roles effectively, efficiently and safely

- making regulatory decisions as outlined in the operational delegation instrument

Position Description
The Business Systems Service Desk provides technical support and assistance to customers who have questions about or encounter issues with business systems that are used in day-to-day operations. We respond to requests for support, troubleshoot complex application issues and provide guidance on how to use various business systems more effectively. We also play a role in improving system functionality through the co-ordination of system enhancement requests and associated testing activities.

The SIRS is an initiative to help prevent and reduce the risk and occurrence of incidents of abuse and neglect of older Australians receiving Commonwealth-subsidised aged care and services. It commenced in residential aged care on 1 April 2021 and was extended to home services on 1 December 2022.
The SIRS has 2 key components:
- incident management responsibilities
- reportable incident obligations.
The 8 types of reportable incidents that must be reported to the Commission include:
- Unreasonable use of force
- Unlawful sexual contact or inappropriate sexual conduct
- Psychological or emotional abuse
- Stealing or financial coercion by a staff member
- Neglect
- Inappropriate use of restrictive practices
- Unexplained absence from care / missing consumers
- Unexpected death.
The aim of SIRS is to:
- build the capability of providers to prevent or reduce the occurrence of serious incidents and improve quality and safety
- require providers to review incident information to drive improvements in quality and safety
- enable the Commission to better detect, triage and respond to risk across all its functions by utilising SIRS notifications alongside the range of intelligence held by the Commission.
SIRS team delivers on the aim by:
- assessing the actual or potential risk to the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of a consumer and provider capacity and capability to address the risk
- acting in a timely, proportionate and coordinated manner if a provider is not demonstrating capability
- educating providers using the intelligence gathered from notifications
- ensuring notifications are recorded accurately into the business systems to produce meaningful intelligence.

What you'll do:
Reporting to and with the support of the Team Leader, Serious Incident Response Scheme, you will be responsible for undertaking the initial assessment of reportable incidents to:
- Strengthen aged care systems to reduce the risk of abuse and neglect.
- Build providers’ skills so they can better respond to serious incidents.
- Enable providers to review incident information to drive improvements in quality and safety.
- Reduce the likelihood of preventable incidents reoccurring.
- Ensure people receiving aged care have the support they need.
An Assessment Officer is required to undertake assessments in accordance with the Commission’s risk framework, operating procedures, and other job aids. Assessment Officers are directly supported in their role by Senior Officers and Team Leaders who are responsible for more complex assessments.
Position duties
- Assessing sensitive and at times confronting information within prescribed timeframes and guidelines.
- Searching and analysing the Commission’s business systems.
- Documenting in an accurate and timely manner your assessments and recommendations.

Position Description:

Position Description
Our team within the Reform and Transform Program Office (RTPO) are made up of highly qualified project managers, business analysts, project coordinators and other specialists. We are responsible for delivering budget measure and major projects to the Commission by ensuring that programs and/or projects are completed on budget and on time. We aim to ensure all projects are aligned with the Commission’s overarching objectives and goals.
Position Duties
The role of the Project Manager is to support the ACQSC by managing Budget Measures, and other complex projects for 2024 and beyond, to meet the needs of the Commission as a regulator of aged care.
This role requires experience working in an Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), bringing onboard a combination of technical, financial, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
The Project Manager will need to keep abreast of the changes and updates in a regulatory landscape and their impact on the project/s.
The Project Manager will have a good understanding of working in a regulatory environment, the current and emerging trends, policies, and best practices in their field. They must provide a sound understanding of regulatory guidance and advice to the project team and other stakeholders to support the development and implementation of regulatory strategies and plans.
The Project Manager will use a standard suite of project support documentation, adhere to the project governance framework, and utilise the enterprise-wide Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) Tool application.
Key Accountabilities
- Apply the Commission’s Project Governance Framework incorporating change management planning and use of the Portfolio and Project (PPM) Tool.
- Plan, organise, support execution, and control complex projects and can manage the project scope, budget, quality, and risks.
- Maintain project assurance via a dedicated Project Board and Steering Committee.
- Manage project progress, ensuring projects meet deadlines.
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing project documentation in accordance with Commission records management processes.
- Record and track against Risks and Issues by using the appropriate methods and escalation process when your project is tracking ‘At Risk’ or ‘Red’.
- Design and manage the risk mitigation plan.
- Report regularly on project status for the Executive Leadership Group (ELG).

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) is the national regulator of Commonwealth subsidised aged care services. The ACQSC’s primary purpose is to protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of aged care consumers, promote aged care consumers’ confidence and trust in the provision of aged care services, and promote engagement with aged care consumers about the quality of their care and services. The Commission applies the range of functions and powers available under the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act 2018, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules 2018 and the Aged Care Act 1997, including:
- Informing consumers and their representatives about consumers’ right to quality and safe care and services
- Approving providers of aged care
- Educating and guiding providers on their responsibilities to deliver quality and safe care and services

- Monitoring aged care providers’ financial viability and taking proactive engagement activity to build sector financial resilience

Legal Section
The Legal Team provides strategic, informed and consistent advice on core Commission functions, as well as advice on governance, legislation, corporate and commercial matters, coronial matters, disputes and litigation, workplace and information related matters.
More broadly, the Legal Team adopts a coordinated approach to the identification and management of organisational legal risks, provides legal training, and works closely with policy and operational units, particularly in relation to decision making and implementation of the Commission’s regulatory framework.
Position Description
The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) works collaboratively and innovatively to deliver Legal services in support of the Aged Care and Safety Quality Commission’s strategic and operational objectives. Reporting to the Executive Director, Enterprise Governance and Corporate Operations (EDEGCO), the CLO has a critical leadership and enablement function within the Corporate Services Group and across the Commission. The CLO drives change and innovation, builds capacity and delivers strategic and operational outcomes through the provision of a range of legal services in the areas of law such as administrative law, regulatory compliance, employment law, commercial law, and corporate governance.
The CLO is responsible for leading a small legal team to ensure the Commission’s compliance with various ACTs and for providing strong practical, solution focussed advice on a variety of complex matters, including policy implementation and reforms, statutory regulation and legislative compliance.
Position Duties
- Provide and manage a broad range of legal services including the provision of comprehensive legal advice and strategic policy direction on a range of issues pertaining to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, including statutory regulation, administrative law, employment law, commercial law and corporate governance.
- Provide leadership, supervision and mentoring to support the development and retention of senior and junior lawyers within the unit.
- Develop and implement strategically aligned legal frameworks, processes, systems, policy and guidelines that meet the needs of the Section and the Commission.
- Assist and respond to the impact of changes in legislation and changes in the Commission’s operating environment to manage risk and support the effective regulatory operations.
- Support the Executive in managing risk by advising on measures to monitor the Commission’s compliance with requirements relating to the use of statutory powers.
- Draft a wide range of contracts, briefs and other documentation for significant and complex legal transactions.
- Instruct external legal providers where appropriate, including in relation to hearings or inquiries on behalf of the Commission.
- Support the legal work associated with the Commission’s participation in external processes such as hearings and inquiries.
- Provide input on legal matters relating to the regulation of specific Commonwealth funded aged care services.
- Represent the interests of the Commission with relevant stakeholders including other Australian Government, State and Territory representatives as well as the private sector as necessary.
- Provide strategic advice, problem solving and issues management in relation to complex and potentially controversial matters for the Chief Operating Officer and the Commission.
- Prioritise and allocate resources to manage the Legal team and deliver value for the Commission.
- Assist with the management of critical and sensitive issues to deliver consistent strategic and quality messaging in line with current policies and objectives.
- Provide leadership, direction and support to staff working in a fast-paced, high workload environment during a period of change.
- Promote a culture of privacy within the Commission that values and protects personal information.

Essential requirements
- Tertiary Legal qualifications with a strong academic record
- Admission as a legal practitioner in an Australian Court with a minimum 8 years’ relevant post-admission experience.
- Eligibility to hold an unrestricted Government practising certificate.
- Eligibility for baseline level security clearance.

The Group
- The Intake and Complaints Resolution Group (ICRG) works with people receiving services, their representatives and service providers to resolve concerns and make positive improvements for people receiving aged care.
- The Customer Contact Team (CCT) was established in July 2022 and operates within ICRG. The CCT is responsible for receiving and responding to contacts about the quality of aged care services provided by Australian Government approved service providers, or contacts related to the functions of the Commission.
- The CCT responds to a range of contact types including enquiries, feedback, complaints and notifications. Contacts are received via a variety of contact channels including phone, email, online and post. The CCT also manages multiple 1800 numbers such as the Food, Nutrition and Dining phone line.
The Role
The Assistant Director has 3-4 direct reports at the APS6 level who in turn have 4-5 direct reports at the APS5 and APS4 level. The Assistant Director provides direction and guidance to the Customer Contact Team frontline staff and Team Leaders and monitors quality assurance and performance of the team.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for supporting the continuous improvement within the CCT by understanding and responding to operational requirements of internal business areas. This includes establishing and maintaining service level agreements.
As the Assistant Director, you will be responsible for some or all of the following:
- Provide leadership, direction and support to staff working in a fast-paced, high workload environment across multiple locations during a period of change.
- Ensure the CCT operates within the Commission’s guidelines and operating procedures.
- Ensure risks are identified and work flows managed in accordance with agreed priorities and requirements.
- Foster and support staff wellbeing and contribute towards maintaining a positive culture that is customer centred and aligned with recruitment, training, HR and procurement processes.

The Role
The Team Leader is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Customer Contact team members, including providing ongoing supervision, quality assurance, feedback, performance management, training and mentoring, and leading change and process improvement. The Team Leader will work closely with other Team Leaders and take direction from the Assistant Directors regarding operational requirements of the Customer Contact Team and its functions.
As the Team Leader, your responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with other Team Leaders to manage the broader team and build the capability of staff to undertake their roles efficiently.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. The role of the Commission is to protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of people receiving aged care.
The Commission is the national end-to-end regulator of aged care services and the primary point of contact for consumers and providers in relation to quality and safety. Position Description
The Financial Accounting Team provides a range of financial and procurement services to the Commission. These include the preparation of monthly financial reports and annual financial statements; transactional processing such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury and taxation; monitoring, analysing and reporting the Commission’s financial position to the Commission’s executive management and providing advice to the Commission’s executive management on financial issues. To Senior Financial Accountant supports the Assistant Director Financial Accounting in the delivery of financial reporting requirements of the Commission.
Position Duties
To support the Assistant Director Financial Accounting in the delivery of financial reporting requirements of the Commission.
- Preparation of monthly accounts
- Input to CBMS, including preparing briefing for the CFO/Executive Director as necessary for PBS/PAES/MYEFO for monthly actuals and new appropriations
- Annual financial statements including preparation of briefs to progress the AFS and Supplementary Reporting Pack
- Compliance reporting
- Ad-hoc requests for information
Perform bookkeeping work, including posting data and keeping other records.
- Resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
- Ensure monthly transactions are completely and accurately captured
- Process, verify and reconcile input documentation.
- Process monthly journals and adjustments
- Process and reconcile transactions of complex nature.
Ensure all general ledger accounts are verified and reconciled monthly including documenting the preparing, review and sign-off officers, and reconciling items are followed up and cleared according to the month-end timetable
- Ensure follow-up action as and when necessary
- Reconcile sundry accounts receivable records and generate invoices where necessary
- Reconcile and verify bank deposits and payments, prompt investigation into unreconciled or unidentified items
Prepare and lodge all statutory and external returns and disclosures.

Ensure various files, reports, documents and databases used by the department are maintained accurately and kept up to date.
- Advanced Excel skills will be utilised, and highly developed analytical skills are required
Position Eligibility Requirements
- CPA/CA with 4 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience within the Federal Government
- Prior experience with Technology One
- Good technical and professional knowledge
- Advanced Excel skills
- Highly detailed and accurate bookkeeping abilities
- Self-motivated and pro-active in resolving issues
- Good organisational and time management skills
- A focus on quality and attention to detail
- Up-to-date knowledge of the accounting standards and the Department of Finance’s resource management and accounting guidelines. Previous exposure to producing annual financial statements within the Federal Government context.
- A well-developed ability to reconcile information and general ledger accounts and motivated to keep the records clean and problem free.
- Good planning and anticipation, with systems to ensure the capture of monthly transactions and journals are comprehensive and accurate.
- A quick, enquiring mind, a willingness to “own-the-process” and a focus on providing integrity and accuracy in reporting.

Position Notes
Salary offered will be between $89,394 and $100,849 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
